Festival of the Lady Cooks
A celebration in honor of Saint-Laurent, the patron saint of cooks, in Pointe-à-Pitre.
The cooks of the island will hear mass at church, wearing their best dresses, coifs and madras, as well as an apron that is embroidered with their emblem: the grill of Saint-Laurent. Their dishes are blessed, aligned at the foot of the altar in baskets decorated with flowers and kitchen utensils.
They then march through the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre, singing and dancing, baskets in hand or balanced on their heads. A banquet followed by a dance concludes the festivities. Enjoy the delicious Creole cuisine. Effervescence of colors and good spirits! This gallery includes many travel and food images.
